This is the beginning of ours.

Many people know this property as Fountain Hill Winery. We're grateful for its history and for the many memories created here over the years. Today, we're excited to begin a new chapter. SOLHAVN CELLARS builds on that foundation with a new vision—one centered on exceptional wines, genuine hospitality, beautiful surroundings, and creating a destination that will continue to grow for years to come.

When people ask why we purchased this property, the answer isn't simply that we wanted to own another winery. The truth is, we came across this beautiful property almost accidentally and felt that it has tremendous potential.

Over the years, we had the privilege of acquiring and restoring two struggling wineries in California. Both were wonderful opportunities to breathe new life into properties that had lost their way. We loved the challenge of improving the wines, enhancing the guest experience, growing vibrant wine clubs, and watching those wineries become thriving destinations. We eventually sold both wineries in 2022, grateful for the journey and everything we learned along the way.

We weren't actively searching for another winery when this property caught our attention.

What we found wasn't a finished destination—it was potential.

We saw beautiful rolling grounds, mature trees, and a remarkable barn that has stood here for nearly a century. We saw a property with character, history, and the opportunity to become something truly special. More importantly, we saw a place where people could gather to celebrate, relax, and create memories with family and friends.

As we walked the property for the first time, we could already picture families enjoying a summer evening on the patio, friends gathering over a bottle of wine, couples celebrating special occasions, and guests returning season after season to see what was new. We could picture this becoming one of those places people look forward to visiting—not just for the wine, but for the experience.

That vision is what inspired SOLHAVN CELLARS.

So why the name SOLHAVN?

The name comes from two Scandinavian words: Sol, meaning sun, and Havn, meaning harbor or haven—a place of refuge, comfort, and welcome.

Together, they represent exactly what we hope this winery becomes: a warm and welcoming place where people can slow down, reconnect, and enjoy great wine in beautiful surroundings.

Our goal isn't simply to produce outstanding wines. We want to create one of Minnesota's most welcoming winery destinations—a place that reflects the beauty of this region, celebrates local agriculture, and becomes a gathering place for family, friends, and visitors for years to come.

Over the coming months and years, you'll see new wines, new vineyard plantings, beautiful landscaping, a reimagined tasting room, inviting outdoor spaces, and eventually a new event venue that complements the character of this remarkable property. Some changes will happen quickly, while others will take time. That's part of building something intended to last.

But wineries aren't built with buildings alone.

One of the things we've enjoyed most throughout our careers isn't simply improving properties—it's building teams, creating opportunities, and watching people take pride in something they've helped create. A great winery is ultimately about people: the team that welcomes every guest, the winemakers who craft each vintage, the vineyard crew that cares for the vines, and the community that embraces it.
